Happiness... a seat on the 11.17 through the Valleys, Gareth Huw Davies

"I alight at Llandeilo. It's the perfect stop for my low-carbon travelling plans. A 25-minute tour takes in as many wow-factor features as I'd find in some A-list destinations I know...

Eva and Owain Huw were also smitten on a visit to Llandeilo. They bought an early 1900s Edwardian townhouse, facing the Brecon Beacons, and gave it a full makeover. They have just opened Fronlas as one of the sharpest new B&Bs in Wales.

The couple decided not to skimp on detail, matching the decor and design features you'd expect in a classy boutique hotel. I've stayed in many a fine B&B but never before one with a wooden floor and a natural stone en suite with walk-in rainwater shower. In the lounge, jazz seeped discreetly from an iPod. They can play it all day with a clear conscience – the entire place is powered with solar panels and other green forms of electricity."
